Denza has revealed more details about the upcoming Z Coupe, a fixed-roof sports car arriving only six weeks after the debut of the Z Convertible. The model joins the growing Denza lineup under BYD’s premium division and brings fresh information on performance, weight, and design across the entire Z family.
The headline figure comes from the flagship version. China`s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched a meme according to which the top-spec Z Coupe from BYD would come with three electric motors: one with 670 horsepower up front and two at the rear, each one with 456 horsepower. The total output reached a staggering 1,582 horsepower.
That`s a bit more significant than the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra`s 1,526 horsepower.
There is also a second drivetrain sitting below the range leader. This o comes with a 268-horsepower motor at the front while a pair of 215-horsepower motors cover the rear. The total stands at 482 horsepower.
As for speed, the standard Coupe and Convertible are electronically-limited at 300 km/h. However, a flagship Coupe can be has with 350 km/h. Unfortunately, no acceleration figures have been released.
The visual differences between the models are equally important. The regular Coupe closely follows the Convertible displayed at the Beijing Auto Show, replacing the folding roof with a fixed structure. The more focused version takes a different approach. Denza fitted a revised front bumper, a front splitter, unique wheels, a larger rear diffuser, and a substantial fixed rear wing.
That rear wing is one of the easiest ways to identify the track-oriented model.
Weight remains a major part of the story. The flagship Coupe registers 4,938 lbs (2,240 kg). The standard Coupe comes in slightly lower at 4,894 lbs (2,220 kg). The Convertible carries the highest figure of the trio at 5,048 lbs (2,290 kg).
Interestingly, the car photographed testing at the Nürburgring last year appears to match the more aggressive Coupe variant now shown in official images.
Denza first introduced the Z sports car in late April, launching the project with the Convertible while confirming a Coupe would follow. New photos now complete the picture and reveal how broad the lineup has become. Chinese pricing for all three versions has not been announced. The report states the models will almost certainly arrive at lower prices than established competitors from Western manufacturers.
